Brainstorming for topics for overall project.

1. Gardening

I have recently gotten into gardening and love the sustainability and mental health benefits it provides. As a result, these two benefits listed above will be the main purpose of why people should begin a garden of their own. I recently got my own plot of land at UCSB where I am growing a variety of veggies and flowers. I would advocate the reasons for why people who have never gardened before should start as an affordable, sustainable way to grow fresh produce. For the Photo Editing Project, I could create a collage of photos that depict people growing various veggies along with the beginner steps needed to start gardening and the costs associated with it as well. I could include book quotes regarding the benefits of gardening to motivate people to create a garden of their own. The target audience would be for younger individuals around my age group who have a lack of experience in gardening and are looking for cheaper ways to start.

For the illustration portion of my project, I could create illustrations depicting the steps of gardening and the overall process of how your garden will grow in a cheap, efficient way targeted for a younger audience with less money. For the Video Project, I could show the outcome of putting in the work of taking good care of your garden and depict how desirous fresh produce is. I would have a friendly voiceover persuading my younger audience that the amount of work they put into their garden is quite minimal compared to the overall benefits such as fresh produce, mental health benefits, and sustainability as well.

2.) Volleyball

I have played competitive volleyball ever since I was a freshman in high school. This has provided me with a great number of friends and a good way to exercise as well. The main purpose would be to demonstrate the immense benefits of volleyball and advocating getting started in the sport at a young age. As a result, my blog post would be targeted for highschoolers interested in becoming more active or joining a sport in which all of my projects could promote. First, for my photo editing project, I could do a series or compilation of people having fun playing volleyball and a series of information on the side with the benefits associated with playing volleyball. I could include quotes from famous volleyball players regarding how fun and great volleyball is to persuade young individuals to join.

For the illustration portion of my project, I could depict the beginner steps of getting started with volleyball and the essential techniques associated with this sport. I would make it colorful, warm, inviting, and simplistic in order to appeal to a younger audience. For the video project I could showcase the benefits of volleyball such as getting more fit and the close friends you can make. I could depict them hanging out on and off the court illustrating the new bond they have formed over this sport. I would use a friendly and warm voiceover in order to portray volleyball an inviting hobby that has numerous benefits. I would especially highlight the good friendships that can arise from this sport in order to appeal to a younger audience.
